1. Do I need new license keys to use Geneos 7?
Ans: For Geneos version up to GA7.7.x, the license keys are compatible with previous versions. Geneos users can generally use their existing license keys for the Licence Daemon. Geneos 7 has also developed newer plugins on Collection Agent like MarketsIO and VMware, which may require updates to the license keys.
However, please note that support for Licence Daemon versions earlier than 7.8.0 will end on 31 July 2026. We strongly recommend upgrading your Licence Daemon ahead of time.
For Geneos version GA7.8 and above, ITRS is introducing a new license file format. Please refer to the upgrade notes for full details and required actions, and contact ITRS Support to obtain a new license file.
2. Do I need to upgrade everything for Geneos 7?
Ans: Not necessary. Geneos 7 works with older versions such as version 6 and some of the version 5. However, if you want to get the most from Geneos 7 and ITRS Analytics, we recommend using the latest version 7. You can check out the upgrade notes and release highlights prior to upgrading.
