Geneos - Use of Load Balancer for License Daemon

Question:

• Can LICD servers benefit from using a load balancer for improved performance?
• Can we have LICD servers sitting behind a load balancer?
• 

Answer:

• While placing license daemons behind a load balancer is NOT OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED yet, there have been successful tests from different users.  Given that this is not supported, users' discretion is strongly advised.
• In its current form, even if the license daemon goes down, connected gateways will continue to function. This is due to gateways' cache-successful license requests to the license database, allowing the Gateways to operate using cached licenses during outages.
• Gateway cache is persistent across both Netprobe and Gateway restarts, ensuring monitoring functionality even if the license daemon experiences an issue, leading to disconnection between Gateways and the license daemon.
