Geneos - why do I get procedure entry point errors for DLL files during Windows Netprobe installation?

Users are generally suggested to review the Geneos Compatibility Matrix and use a support version in the ITRS Download Site.

This article has collected some known compatibility issues for older Netprobe versions.

Windows Server 2003

If you are trying to install Netprobe version GA3.1.x or above, you may receive the following error messages:

The procedure entry point PdhAddEnglishCounterA could not be located in the dynamic link library pdh.dll.
The procedure entry point OpenFileById could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll.

Please note that ITRS have dropped support for Windows 2003. The last version of Netprobe tested on Windows 2003 was GA3.0.23.

Windows Server 2008

We have received several reports from users having problems with Netprobe version GA4.x on Windows 2008.

If you encounter the following error message during Netprobe installation on Windows 2008, it is suggested upgrading to Netprobe version GA4.10.0 (COL-6261) or above.

The procedure entry point K32GetModuleFilenameExA could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll.
