The Reports accordion has a number of highly configurable reports that allow the user to view and present their data in various ways. One of the more common reporting use cases is to generate a RAG status for a selection of Virtual Machines. To do this, follow these instructions:
- Go to the reporting accordion
- Select the Metric Analysis Multi Chart
- Select the baseline to be used for the report. This is normally set to be the default baseline, which is a summary of the previous 3 months of data.
- For the Level 1 Entity Type drop down, select 'Cluster'
- For Grouping Filter 1 drop down, select 'Select Clusters from list'
- For Grouping Value 1 drop down, select the Cluster in question.
- For the Level 2 Entity Type drop down, select 'VM'
- For Grouping Filter 2 drop down, select 'Select all VMs'
You have now filtered this to report to be run for all VMs in a chosen cluster.
This report allows for up to 3 metrics to be presented. Let's configure it to use both CPU and Memory.
- For Metric drop down, select both 'CPU Utilisation Server Level (%)' and 'Memory Utilisation MB (%)'
- Red Operator allows you to select the RAG condition, in this drop down, leave as default
- Set the threshold to be 80
- Amber Operator, leave as default
- Set the threshold to be 60
- For summary level, select 'daily summary'
- Select 'Specific date range' - this will run the report over all data covered by the baseline duration
- In chart type, select box plot. This will speed up the report.
- For percentile value, use the default 95th percentile
- Leave all other entries as default
At this point, we have configured a report to show daily summaries of all VMs in a chosen cluster. Any cluster where 95th percentile of either CPU or Memory for any day goes above 80% will be highlighted as red. If above 60, it will be amber.
