Question
It seems that the Windows Netprobe package includes the Microsoft Kill command. Is it needed for running the Netprobe, and is it safe to remove?
Answer:
- Yes, netprobe package has a "kill" on it. This kill and Windows kill is similar to each other.
- The kill.exe and other program in the netprobe is to provide clients with easy access to tools to handle various tasks (killing processes, updating registry values, etc) that can be used by either the toolkit or to manage the netprobe.
- You can manually delete kill.exe from the directory if it is not used by your team.
Note: we have an existing internal request COL-11743 to investigate kill.exe and other binaries in Windows Netprobe. This is currently work in progress.
