The Self-Announcing Netprobe feature had been available from Netprobe version GA3.0.11 (NPX-720 / NPX-754). On the Netprobe machine, users should prepare a "Netprobe Setup File" which is needed for Netprobe startup. |

For a Self-Announcing Netprobe, no Netprobe or Managed Entity need be configured on the Gateway. Instead the Netprobe Setup File specifies both the Probe name and Managed Entity name along with one or more Type names that correspond to types in the Gateway Setup File. This allows Netprobes to start up on any hosts and immediately be configured with default monitoring.
