Users should prepare a "Netprobe Setup File" as configuration startup on the Netprobe machine. The Self-Announcing Netprobe feature had been available since Netprobe version GA3.0.11 (NPX-720 / NPX-754). Geneos versions that are currently supported should have this feature available. |
For a Self-Announcing Netprobe, no Netprobe or Managed Entity need be configured on the Gateway. Instead the Netprobe Setup File specifies both the Probe name and Managed Entity name along with one or more Type names that correspond to types in the Gateway Setup File. This allows Netprobes to start up on any hosts and immediately be configured with default monitoring.
