Linux servers may have the Net-SNMP packages which include SNMP daemons and utilities. Depending on the Linux distribution, the packages are usually named net-snmp and net-snmp-utils. If these are installed, users can make use of the snmptrap command line to generate SNMP trap messages manually. This will be useful to simulate alerts instead of waiting for real alerts from network or hardware devices.
