Why am I getting "Fail - 42000 Login failed for user" error when setting up a new SQL-Toolkit sampler?
Older versions of the Netprobe have trouble connecting to databases using SSL. Geneos Netprobe version 3.8.3 introduced a number of SSL enhancements that help connect to databases using an encrypted connection. If you receive the below error, please consider what Netprobe version you're using.
If you're using a version pre-3.8.3 then you're going to have to upgrade. Although you can upgrade to 3.8.3, please keep in mind that the newest version at the time of this writing, is 4.6.0 so we suggest taking advantages of all the bug-fixes since then.
The Netprobe is backwards compatible with a Gateway version that predates it. For example, if you're using Gateway version 3.0.6, fear not, your 4.6.0 Netprobe will still work with that version.
Although the above is true and you can use an older version of the Gateway with a newer version of the Netprobe ... It is imperative to understand that you're missing out on a lot of functionality that the Gateway will not be able to take advantage of, as well as a lot of performance tuning enhancements, not to mention critical bug-fixes. So we do also recommend you upgrade that as well.
