If the Rewind option is ticked, which it is not by default, this will cause the FKM plugin to read from the beginning of a file whenever it is started (or restarted). When the rewind option is un-ticked (the default) the FKM plugin reads from the end of the file on start-up. In general the FKM Rewind option should not be changed from the default except during the development of new sampler configurations or for diagnostics. |

The FKM plugin will read from the beginning of a file whenever it detects the file is new, specifically if the file's inode (File ID in Windows) changes, regardless of the rewind option. |

If the file path contains wildcards ('*' and '?') and the FKM sample is not configured to Wildcard Monitor All Matches then it will check for the newest file every sample and if this newest file is different according to the rules above it will read the file from the beginning. This can have an unwanted effect when two matching files are being written to by external applications. The newest file may flip-flop every sample and it's entire contents re-read each time. |
